What are you doing to improve yourself?

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has yet again embarked on another strike action and it is gradually getting into the third week now. The most heart wrenching thing about this problem is as a student you never know when it would or how it would end and neither can you do anything about it. So it is safer to see this as an opportunity to improve yourself...So in this post i would be talking about the ways you can improve yourself...

  • Get a job either paid or unpaid - it is important you stop sleeping and eating all day. Get yourself up and find a job or learn or volunteer in a field you are interested...because the truth is after school a little experience or more knowledge in your field would naturally put ahead of your peers. So forget about TV, the latest movies and invest in yourself for the future.
  • Start a business - if you are entrepreneurial savvy or you think you have a business idea that has been sitting in your head for a long time, this is the best time to start and in case you want to complain about no capital remember the key is to start small...A friend of mine during the last strike  action started a blog and he is one of the fastest growing publicist available right now you can  view his site on www.47vibez.com.ng
  • Get Creative- Can you bake a mouthwatering cake, are you a better writer than Wole Soyinka, are the lines of poem threatening to burst your head open, can you  make creative funny videos or you have always wanted to start a Vlog?....well now is the time to get creative with all those ideas and start to do them...
  • Learn a Trade - lastly, you might look down on your tailor or mechanic because you see yourself as an undergraduate that would soon get a white collar job, what you may not know is that they actually make more money from those trades than would make the regular salary earner want to quit his job. Also in  life, you never know what curve ball could be thrown your way so instead of relying on that piece of certificate you haven't gotten yet, you might want to go out there and learn a trade or just anything you can do with your hands. from tailoring, to plumbing, events decoration, hair styling and the list is endless so the choice is yours to either stay mediocre or become more than just a student sitting at home and is being  limited from achieving greatness  by the strike..

TGIF.....Pamper Your Delicate Self this weekend

I am a big Advocate for "Me time" during the weekend because it not only helps to take off the stress of the long work week but also rejuvenates you for the coming week ahead and there some really easy and simple ways to pamper your self without breaking the bank and i would sharing them with you in this post....

1. Start by cooking yourself a great meal or your favorite meal - It could even be the meal that has been on my mind all week long or maybe the recipe you have always wanted to try but which ever one you decide make sure it is something you would love and enjoy. If you don't feel up to cooking you could decide to visit a great restaurant and have a good meal for yourself...

2. Go window shopping or visist the flea market(okirika/bend down select) - Nothing as good as the smell of new things as you stroll through the market or supermarket...well it might be a little depressing if you have no money to purchase any of the stuffs immediately but at least you can make a mental note of things you might love to have when you eventually have cash to spare. I love going to the flea market because you can actually get very unique pieces for almost a steal...i remember buying a very nice jacket for 50naira yes you read right ....it cost just 50naira so take a stroll, window shop, match up pieces in your head and have fun...

3. Spend your time Praying - I believe in the power of prayers a lot and while we might not have a lot of time during the week days to pray as much as we can or want, the weekend is usually a great time to spend a little bit more time praying and communicating with the almighty God. Tell him about your stressful week and also your plans for the coming week so he can help you out with it and maybe you just show him how grateful you are and watch yourself become more peaceful and calm to face the new week..

4. Get a makeover - Whether is making a new hairstyle, getting your nails done or cutting your hair at the barber's. there is a level of excitement that comes with that. Last week i went to get henna design on my hands and the feeling of seeing the new design actually made my week go a lot better, So try to get a makeover this weekend as way of pampering yourself and you would naturally be happier. it could just be even doing just a bit of personal grooming that would give you that feeling as well...

5. Read a book, a poem or just watch a movie - Finally you could pamper yourself by reading a book, a poem or watching a movie. it doesn't matter if you have watched them before you can still watch again to gain a different perspective and idea that you might have missed the first time...
So there it is go ahead pamper yourself and enjoy a fun filled, relaxing and amazing weekend..

Don't Loose Your Self

I recently got a job as a radio presenter for a new radio station in the city of Minna, Niger state. and i now have a belt of my own....My show comes up from 10pm to 2am every Sunday to Thursday and it is called the night shift....I am embracing this new challenge and loving the experience as well. I also get paid regularly as against the volunteer job i was involved in before...it isn't so much money but the station is an urban radio and it does have a wider reach so am getting a lot of exposure as well. It wasn't  easy making the decision but i am at peace with myself now and at the end of the day i am responsible for my decisions and actions...If you ever feel the need to listen you can tune in to the frequency it is at 91.7 FM
or you stream live at www.prestigefmradio.ng....Till i write again do take care..
